Capturing Love & Adventure

Why Elope

Travel somewhere meaningful and beautiful, avoid complex logistics, and start your marriage with an incredible adventure.

Elopements provide intimate, personalized weddings with low stress and an atmosphere focused on meaningful connection.

From your backyard to the cliffs of Yosemite, eloping provides a sense of freedom that makes these small ceremonies well worth it.

Without a strict timeline or shot list, an elopement session mixes photography, adventure, and logistics to create a fluid and flexible approach to an amazing love story.

The Elopement Experience

James did a fantastic job photographing our wedding reception in Mallorca. He was easy to work with, professional, and made the whole process feel effortless. The photos turned out beautifully and really captured the vibe. We’re very happy with the results and would definitely recommend him.

How To Elope

After deciding where you want to elope, start with logistics. Many places like Yosemite, Rocky Mountain, Zion, Joshua Tree, and other national parks require special use permits. The permit fees range from $100 to 300 dollars and applications need to be put in well at least three weeks in advance

Dream of epic Mountain views, sweeping ocean vistas, and the wide-open speace of the desert. There are places across the globe that fit the bill. Deciding on just one spot can be difficult but it’s the first step in the process. I’ve photographed at some of the most amazing places on earth and can guide you to them.

Marriage licenses can be obtained at most county clerk’s offices. There are various waiting periods and fees in different states. States have different rules regarding waiting periods, witness requirements, and residency. In Colorado, you can solemnize your own marriage without an officiant which is popular for private ceremonies. Nevada, California, and other startes require an officiant at a wedding.

James captured beautiful moments both in our home before and during our rugged and windy mountain top ceremony. He was both fun to be around but also discreet at our very small ceremony.

Work with me

As a photographer, I enjoy taking a back seat to connection, providing some direction but allowing the emotion to unfold naturally.

Having spent 15 years in Yosemite, a decade on the Front Range, and five years in Red Rocks, as well as extensive time traveling the world, I can guide you to the best locations, ensuring you have spectacular views and an intimate elopement experience.

Documenting an intimate, authentic wedding in a natural location speaks to my appreciation for the outdoors but also my passion for capturing love.
